Meet your coach

MY STORY

A few years ago I stopped training for a while — and I quickly realised how much it affected more than just my fitness. During the lockdown period my normal training routine disappeared almost overnight. Like many people, I assumed it would only be temporary. A few weeks off wouldn’t make much difference.

But as the weeks turned into months, I noticed something else happening.

My energy dropped, Motivation faded.
My mental health started to slide in a way that caught me off guard.

What surprised me most wasn’t just the physical decline — it was how closely my mindset followed it.

When movement disappeared, everything else started to feel heavier as well.

As someone who had spent years working in the strength and conditioning world, it was a powerful reminder that regular training isn’t just about physical health — it plays a huge role in maintaining mental resilience and stability too.

And once routine disappears, rebuilding it alone can be much harder than people expect.

What I started noticing in others

What I realised during that time was how quickly routine can disappear, and how difficult it can be to rebuild it without structure.

Many of the men who walk through this garage describe a similar experience.

Life gets busy.
Small injuries appear.
Training quietly drops away for years.

By the time they decide they should do something again, the hardest part isn’t effort — it’s simply knowing where to begin.

Why I created this space

Why this place exists

Over the years I’ve worked with people at many different stages of training.

But more and more I found myself drawn to helping people who were starting again.

Not athletes chasing performance.
Just normal men who want to feel stronger, move better, and get some control back over their health.

Many of them tell me the same thing:

They know they should train again — but commercial gyms don’t feel like the right place anymore.

Too busy.
Too intimidating.
Too focused on pushing harder instead of starting properly.

That’s the gap Henley Fitness was built to fill.

A different type of training environment

This isn’t a typical gym.

There are no crowds.
No loud music.
No pressure to keep up with anyone else.

Just a private garage studio designed for simple, structured strength training.

Most of the men who train here are starting again after a long break. Some haven’t trained properly in years.

Sessions focus on rebuilding movement first — improving joint health, restoring confidence, and gradually adding strength in a way that feels manageable.

The goal isn’t to push people to their limits.

It’s to help them feel capable again.

Why strength matters more after 40

After 40, strength stops being about appearance.

It becomes about everyday capability.

Being able to lift things without pain.
Moving easily after sitting all day.
Feeling capable instead of fragile.

Done properly, strength training improves:

• joint resilience
• posture
• energy levels
• long-term health

But the key is starting at the right level for where your body is now.

REAL MEN, real change

Stronger in the garage. Stronger in life.

These are typical outcomes for committed clients over 3–6 months. No extreme diets, no crash programs.

Key changes: consistent 2x/week training habit, no more "gym anxiety".

Straightforward investment

Tailored coaching without long-term contracts.

Most clients train 2 or 3 times per week. We’ll walk through options in your intro session, but here’s what to expect:

  • 1:1 sessions in the private garage studio.

  • Pricing per session comparable to a night out — but better for you.

  • No signup fees, no 12-month lock-ins.

  • Pause or adjust if life or work gets hectic.

During the Game-Plan session, we’ll map out a plan and be completely upfront about pricing — you decide what feels right.

What you get in every session:

  • Warm-up and mobility specific to your joints.

  • Strength work focused on big, safe movements.

  • Conditioning tailored to your current fitness.

  • Coaching, form checks, and progress tracking.

  • Adjustments based on sleep, stress, and energy that day.

Limited spots: Because this is a true 1:1 studio, there are only a few client openings at any time.

Questions, answered

You don’t have to be fit to start

The most common thing I hear is, “Let me get a bit fitter, then I’ll start.” That’s what I’m here for. We start from exactly where you are — breathless, stiff, or nervous is all welcome.

I’m not very fit. Can I still start?

Absolutely. You don’t need to be fit to start — that’s what training is for.

Our coaching focuses on building strength, movement quality, and confidence from your current level. Everything can be adjusted so you can train safely while gradually improving your fitness.

What if I have injuries or ongoing pain?

That’s very common, and it’s something we account for. Exercises can be modified to work around injuries or mobility limitations while still helping you build strength.

The goal is to help you move better and become more resilient over time — not push through pain.

Do I need gym experience?

No experience is required. Every exercise is coached and explained so you know exactly what to do and why you’re doing it.

Many clients actually start with little or no gym background. Learning proper technique early helps you build strength safely and avoid the bad habits people often pick up training on their own.

What makes this different from a regular gym?

There are no other members watching, no mirrors lining the walls, and no loud music unless you want it. This isn’t a typical gym where you’re left to figure things out on your own. Every session is coached so you receive guidance on technique, progression, and training safely.

The focus is on building real, practical strength that supports your health, daily life, and outdoor activities.

How Do I Get Started?

The first step is booking an initial session ....I call this the Game-Plan session. This gives you the opportunity to experience the training environment, ask questions, and get a feel for how the coaching works.

We’ll discuss your goals and guide you through a simple session so you can see exactly what to expect.

From there, you can decide if it feels like the right fit for you.

NOT QUITE READY TO BOOK JUST YET?

Just fill out the contact us form and we can answer any questions you may have.

  • No payment details required.

  • Got questions or worries we can answer them

  • No hard sell — if it’s not a fit, I’ll tell you.

LOW - PRESSURE PROMISE

You'll never be ashamed for where you're starting.

Your intro session is about understanding your body and your goals - not testing how tough you are.

If at any point it doesn't feel like the right fit, we shake hands and part ways. no awkwardness.

Most men say the hardest part was filling out the form.

After that, it gets easier.
